Pepsi Vegas Sphere

One of the most exciting projects I have had the opportunity to work on. Pepsi reached out to The Mill to design the visuals for them that will be played on the Vegas Sphere during the Superbowl 2024.

Pepsi was very specific about the look of the soda and the cherries. We had to go through a ton of references and iterations to get the right viscosity, color, texture, shader for the soda and the cherries. We even experimented multiple times with pouring a can of Pepsi Cherry in a glass to get an idea of the amount of bubbles, foam, etc.

Figuring out how the transitions of these different scenes would work was very tricky. Specially because Zach King, a very popular TikTok star was supposed to film an accompanying TikTok so the timing and transitions had to be just right.

Everything is harder when we are creating visuals to be displayed in a spherical format. This was in the early days of the Sphere, so there was sparse information and documentation on the procedures and workflows to use. We figured out a way to render the required format out of Maya, so everything from Houdini had to be brought back to Maya for rendering. The rendering workflow we developed on this project is still being used today by the Sphere team themselves and other companies that produce content for it.
